Help baby (and yourself!) to relax with reflexology
I am often asked if I can treat little feet with baby reflexology. Parents who have been with me in pregnancy yoga are keen to carry on this nurtured feeling after the birth, for themselves as well as their little ones.
Baby reflexology can be incredibly helpful in relaxing and soothing little ones. Babies who are teething, who are overtired or whose little tummies are full and uncomfortable, can benefit from therapeutic reflexology to the hands or feet.
Baby can stay in parent's arms as I gently apply light reflexology techniques to their feet. A baby session is much ...
Doing yoga
So, you might ask what does 'doing yoga' consist of? What do we actually do within a class? As a beginner, will I be able to 'do it' at all? Perhaps you have been to many yoga classes, or done many home videos. Why is dynamic yoga any different?
In dynamic yoga we use repetitive actions to awaken the deep sensitivity within the body; to be open to sensation as it happens and to lengthen and broaden the body, creating space and openness within the bodymind. There shouldn't be any expectations, although flexibility and strength often occur as a natural by-product of this ...
Doula – birth support for you and your family
A birth doula is someone who is employed to support you in your choices during your labour and birth. They can also be employed for a period after the birth (post-natal doula) to help around the house with light duties, look after your newborn while you shower or rest, and make sure you feel supported at this special time. It is especially useful if you have a nervous partner or no partner to attend the birth for whatever reason. Births with a doula present are more likely to be calm and have a relaxed birth, with little or no anxiety, and less interference.
A preliminary ...
Herbal Eye Pillows
A herbal eye pillow is very relaxing placed over the eyes or next to the face as you relax. They are made using high quality herbs and linseeds or rice, which are stitched into a lining inside the pillowcase, ensuring that no filling escapes. They are made to order, using quality fabrics in a broad range of styles and colours, to suit everyone. Approximate size is 23cm x 8cm. Approximate weight 70g.
I have formulated 5 separate herbal mixes for you to choose from (please scroll to the bottom of this page for details), but with discussion I am able to adapt or even make ...
Your birth plan
A birth plan, of course, is an 'ideal' scenario. Rarely do birth plans follow suit without some tweaks here and there. As an example, I wrote on my third baby's birth plan 'Do not touch me!' and my wonderful midwife respected that totally, but of course as I progressed and the situation changed, she did touch me with permission. Had to in fact. But for the whole of my labour she did not actually physically touch me. I had my reasons, and they were important at that time. But she helped me and empowered me to birth my way until I needed her.
Things to include are your ...
Private partner pregnancy yoga class with labour and birth preparation
Private partner pregnancy yoga class with labour and birth preparation includes time exploring yoga postures to connect with the breath, to improve flexibility, to connect with each other and our baby (or babies).
We aim for our pregnant partner to feel empowered to birth fully supported and, as partners, empowered with knowledge of techniques to offer different types of support, as needed.
Movements to support optimum foetal positioning are practised, and there are tips to encourage labour to begin if baby is ready. If labour has started, or waters have broken, and ...
Yoga Nidra
We are currently looking for a venue in Allestree for group yoga classes. Please contact me if you are aware of a large warm room locally
Yoga Nidra is loosely translated as 'Yoga-Sleep; since yoga means union of the body-mind, therefore 'union of the body and mind in a deeply relaxed state'. The practise is quite simple. Lying down or sitting supported, so that you can totally relax, all you need to do is listen and feel.
It is a different technique to a meditation, and it is not a trance. You are very safe. You may fall asleep, and although this is not the aim, it can ...
Meditation
There are so many different types of meditation. Some contain movement; some contain stillness. Some have breathing practices; some have visualisations. Some have eyes open, some closed. The common element is focus.
Key benefits of regular meditation include: stress reduction, sleep improvement, sense of wellbeing, less emotional ups and downs, increased resilience, better concentration, clearer thought patterns.
As the mind stills, with regular meditation practice, it is able to recognise when it is wandering, catastrophising and creating drama. At this point we can ...
World Reflexology Week
World reflexology week this year is 19th-25th September 2022. It will be a great opportunity for me to raise money for a charity close to my heart. Penny Brohn UK support adults receiving treatment for cancer. Based in Bristol, they have a beautiful hall and grounds for retreats, meals and a small shop. They also have a huge website full of resources, weekly zoom classes in many topics, webinars and more.
Each reflexology treatment in that week will be donated in it's entirety to the Penny Brohn UK charity. Book in advance to ensure your space. You can also donate ...
Baby reflexology course
Wouldn't it be great if you could help your little one to feel calm and relaxed, ease discomfort during illness, and gently persuade them to sleep, all by "playing" with their feet?
