What is Reflexology?
The therapy is based on the principle that the feet, face and hands contain ‘mini-maps’ of the whole body and that by applying pressure using the fingers or thumbs a reflexologist can have a positive effect on the corresponding parts of the body.
Sensitive, trained hands may detect changes, which could be interpreted as imbalances in the body. By working on these points the reflexologist can release blockages and restore the free flow of energy to the body.
Reflexology also works by inducing deep calm throughout the body and mind. Tensions are eased, and circulation and elimination might be improved. For each person the application and the effects of the therapy are unique. This non-invasive therapy encourages the body to heal itself, releasing toxins which have built up in the system. These can then be flushed out by drinking water.
Reflexology can help reduce stress, and therefore aid stress-related conditions. If you feel that you’re experiencing a lot of anxiety and turbulence in your life, and perhaps it is making you unwell or exacerbating a current condition, then I believe reflexology can help you.
Anxiety and stress can cause headaches, constipation, lack of sleep and nervousness to name just a few side effects. If you have seen your Doctor, and ruled out any medical problems within your body, try reflexology and see how it works for you.
