Massage for Cancer Patients
For someone undergoing treatment for cancer, it can be wonderful to have the therapeutic touch of massage. Therapists must be trained and experienced, and confident to welcome someone with cancer into their therapy rooms.
I worked as a massage therapist for 2 years in the Lynda Jackson Macmillan Centre, Mount Vernon, Northwood, London. I saw many patients for massage, aromatherapy, reiki and Indian Head massage.
I worked as a reflexologist in cancer care for Penny Brohn UK from 2014-2019 seeing up to 18 patients a week at times. It is important that you give a full declaration of side effects, medications etc if you are considering massage therapy or another form of therapeutic support, in order that I can give you the best treatment.
Additional training that I chose to undertake to support people with cancer include diplomas and cpd to deepen my knowledge and confidence in adapting therapies in oncology.
Often, therapists are just not comfortable or experienced in treating people with cancer, during or even after treatment has completed, for various reasons. Integrative therapies at this time can be just what is needed to alleviate discomfort by aiding relaxation, and to have some form of touch that is not medical. Sleep can be improved, mood can be lifted and emotional resilience can increase. Therapies can help to reduce stress, and may help to lessen the fatigue often associated with treatment for cancer.
Speak to me today about how I can support you with massage or other therapies, whilst you are on treatment. Therapies can be combined to suit your needs, and will always be tailored around your current treatment protocols if appropriate.
Use the contact form, or email me on info@happysoles.net, and we can discuss your individual needs and book your first session.
Please then pay for the therapy you wish, via the website, in the usual way and I will send your consultation form and my privacy policy to you via email.
