Massage for Cancer Patients
For someone undergoing treatment for cancer, it can be wonderful to have the therapeutic touch of massage. Therapists must be trained and experienced, and confident to welcome someone with cancer into their therapy rooms.
I worked as a massage therapist for 2 years in the Lynda Jackson Macmillan Centre, Mount Vernon, Northwood, London. I saw many patients for massage, aromatherapy, reiki and Indian Head massage.
I worked as a reflexologist in cancer care from 2014-2019 seeing up to 18 patients a week at times. It is important that you give a full declaration of side effects, medications etc if you are considering massage therapy or another form of therapeutic support, in order that I can give you the best treatment.
Additional training that I chose to undertake included additional diplomas and cpd to use my therapies in oncology.
Often, therapists are just not comfortable treating people with cancer, during or even after treatment has completed, for various reasons. But therapies at this time can be just what is needed to alleviate discomfort, to aid relaxation, to have some form of touch that is not medical. Sleep can be improved, mood can be lifted and emotional resilience can increase.
Speak to me today about how I can support you with massage or other therapies, whilst you are on treatment. The majority of times, there are no contraindications, perhaps only additional pillows or avoidance of the cancer sites.
Use the contact form, or email me on info@happysoles.net, and we can discuss your individual needs.
