Swedish Massage

Swedish massage can be very therapeutic for many people. As your professional and qualified Level 3 massage therapist, I can ease muscular aches while you relax on the couch. If you have never had a swedish massage before, you may wonder what is the difference between the styles being offered within the complementary therapy community.

A swedish massage just means the method and movements used to benefit the body in a relaxing and therapeutic way, which came from Sweden originally, using long and gliding strokes, aimed at totally relaxing the whole body. The pressure is neither deep nor light, and is adjusted by the therapist to suit the body and skin type of the client.

The swedish massage should never be painful, as deep tissue may be. It can be full-body (50 minutes) or just the back and shoulders (25 minutes).

Towels are used to cover the body, and the only parts uncovered would be the part being massaged at the time. Then it is re-covered with the towel, and a different part is uncovered. The lower towel is tucked into the pants when massaging the back, therefore it is essential that underwear is worn.

Swedish massage can be combined with other therapies such as reiki, hot stones, crystals and aromatherapy, to make it a more bespoke experience.
